Operational Management Concept

Operations Management is a management efforts to the fullest use of all factors of production that there is either labor, machinery, equipment, materials (raw materials) and other production factors in the process of transformation to become a wide variety of products or services.
What can be done by the management of the operation is to carry out all the functions of the management process: planning (planning), organizing (organizing), the establishment of staff, leadership and control.

Orientation operational managers are direct results of the output in quantity, quality, price, time and place of certain correspond to the user or consumer demand.

Operations Manager Responsibilities:
  1. Produce goods or services.
  2. Take a decision regarding the operations function and system transformation.
  3. Assessing making a decision of a function operasinal.
Scope of Operations Management:
1. The design of the production system design and operational
  • Selection as well as designing the product
  • Selection and design processes and peraalatan
  • Selection of site and location of the company and production unit
  • The design of the layout and work flow
  • The design on the job duties
  • Production and operational strategy and the selection of capacity
2. Operation of the system of production and operational
  • Develop plans and operations products
  • Planning and control over inventory and procurement of materials

Decision-making
Viewed from the standpoint of the conditions for any decision to be taken, there are four (4) types of decision-making:
  1. Decision-making for an event that is certain
  2. Decisions about events that have a risk
  3. Taking decisions on an uncertain event
  4. Decisions about events that arise from conflicting with other conditions.
Some Types of Decision Making in Management Operations:
  1. Process: Decisions about the physical processes and facilities used
  2. Capacity: The decision to produce the amount, time and place convenient
  3. Inventories: Decisions on inventory to include that in the message,
  4. Quality, quantity and when raw material (feedstock) booked.
  5. Labor: Includes the process of selection, recruitment, lawyer-payday, layoffs, training,supervision, compensation and promotions to employees and
Decisions in Management of Production Systems
  1. Long-term strategic planning decisions within the resource
  2. Design of the productive system: the work, the process flow, the current system, and the arrangement on the advice of a physical
  3. Decision implementation operasinal: daily, weekly and monthly.
Decree Strategic Planning:
  1. Selection of the circuit design of products or services
  2. Decisions on capacity planning, site location of the warehouse, and plans expansion
  3. System provisioning, storage and logistics.
Definition Production System:
Instruments used in changing all the resources to produce goods or services.
There are three kinds of systems in the production process:
